meridians seeks to ask the questions to help us connect to our self, others around us and the natural world at large.
I’ve been writing since I was old enough to put pencil to paper, and mostly do it as a method of inquiry for understanding. I have many stories I want to tell, but I do not know if I want anyone else to hear them.
despite the fact that all (99% of) current published posts are poetry, I am not a poet.
if you would like to support my work, which includes writing, photography & other creative endeavors, you can pay for a subscription here, or join my Patreon, where I post things beyond poetry (writing/inquiry/conversation prompts, nature & rewilding writing & photography, and excerpts from my journal or longer form writing).
updates:
in early July, all my older poems published here on Substack will be archived and made available to paid subscribers only.
as of June 21st, 2025: new poems now release on Tuesday mornings (if a poem has arisen that week), and are available free to read by all subscribers for eight weeks. they will then be archived & only available to paid subscribers.
as of May 20, 2025, I am publishing my childhood, teen & twentysomething poetry on a schedule - every Friday - as part of a series I’m calling ‘past promises’. I wrote about it here in this post called “old poetry found”. these are also available free to read for all subscribers, and will be archived after 6 weeks.
as of May 5, 2025, I have opened up paid subscriptions & talked about it in this post called “on receiving support”. my plan is to publish free to all members - and the paid option is open for those who wish to support my creative endeavors - and wish access to my older, archived posts.
many blessings, shannon xoxo
