not next of kin

(a poem)

she cares only
who will tell her when i die
'what about me?'
she cries
as it is revealed
she is not 
an emergency contact
or executor
'who will it be
who calls me?'

she seeks only
to claim
her dead daughter
you see.
and it shall not
be me. I'm free.
